10 STEPS TO HELP YOU FIND AN AFFORDABLE DRUG REHAB
Step. 1 –Call a volunteer crisis line 1-888-549-8819
Step. 2 – Next, speak with a certified chemical dependency counsellor, or perhaps a friend, or family member who has already been through this very challenging experience.
Step. 3 – Have an assessment conducted. Find out what your options are. Not all treatment programs will be appropriate for everyone. An assessment can help you decide on which treatment is best for you.
Step. 4 – If long-term rehab is the option you have chosen, then you need to determine which drug and alcohol rehab program meets your needs. There are affordable solutions that match up with all needs.
Step. 5 – “You get what you pay for…” – is not always the truth when it comes to rehab. At this point you must speak with an intake counsellor at a facility of your choice. NEVER SPEAK WITH THE REHAB CENTRE DIRECTLY, as you first course of action. There are over 3,000 different rehab centres across North America alone. Allow the volunteer counsolor to guide you to the best long-term results matched with your budget. Volunteer counsellors have been trained to help you in all areas. They should be unbiased and have your best interests in mind.
Step. 6 – Chose a program. They will help you through every step of the way. There is much to do, including intake, health history, drug history, or whether an intervention is needed. Having someone by your side makes the process much easier. Doing this alone can be very confusing.
Step. 7 – Whatever program you decide on, remember to enter it with an open mind and a willingness to change. This is the first step in recovery.
Step. 8 – Complete the program. Rehab is not meant to be easy, but it is structured so that you get the most out of it as you complete. Without completing it, you open yourself up for relapse, costing you further in the future having to seek other treatment options. Get it right the first time - no matter how difficult it may seem.
Step. 9 Create your own after-care plan. After you have completed the program, contact your intake counsellor who matched you with the program you just completed. Review your after-care plan with him/her, they may have a suggestion for you, or they may be able to help you join an after-care network in your area. Either way, give them a call and let them know about your experience, they will be happy to hear from you. Volunteer counselors do this for the success stories - it's what keeps them going. They welcome your calls.Step. 10 – Stick to the plan and allow yourself to flourish and prosper.
